A FUSION OF COLOUR
This project was a playful – yet meditative – reflection on the nature of the seven chakras. Which, as the yoga-lovers amongst you will know, are the body’s energy points.
The hybrid images, each in a different colour of the rainbow, helped viewers to focus on a particular chakra and their own meditative state.
The full lotus meets The Full Monty
The three-day shoot in London was the culmination of many months’ planning.
Craftsman Bill Turpin and bodypainting marvel Lauren Kay gave each of our five yoga models a head-to-toe makeover. The paint had to have just the right amount of sheen, but also be durable enough not to rub off easily.
This also made the models’ ethnicity indistinct. Because for the purposes of the shoot, that was an irrelevance.
To create the hybrid images, various poses had to be shot at different heights. And the lighting was carefully considered so that the joins would be convincing.
The finished work
This is a little nerdy, but here goes:
These are 30” x 30” metallic C-type archival prints with a matte finish, mounted on Dibond. Presented in a floating frame.
The pièce de résistance, the neon-trim finish, was the handiwork of none other than the God’s Own Junk Yard legend: Marcus Bracey.
